Luka Doncic Latest Athlete To Join The Gatorade Family

Dallas Mavericks Superstar Luka Doncic is the latest athlete to join the Gatorade roster. Doncic according to Grant Afseth of  MavsGameday.com becomes Gatorade’s seventh NBA athlete. The MVP finalist joins Michael Jordan, Jayson Tatum, Karl Anthony Towns, Zion Williamson, Damian Lillard, and Jaden Ivey.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with a brand that has supported so many great athletes. Basketball has given me so much, and together with Gatorade, I’m excited to help more kids experience the benefits of sports,” said Doncic

Also per Afseth, Jeff Kearney, who is Head of Sports Marketing at Gatorade, and spoke about adding a talent of Doncic’s caliber. He also complemented Doncic on his leadership and being a role model on the basketball court.

“We’re excited to add another elite talent like Luka to our roster and are looking forward to fueling him during this year’s NBA playoffs and through more groundbreaking seasons,” Kearney said. “Luka emulates what it means to be a Gatorade athlete – leading others on and off the court and inspiring the next generation.”

Earlier this month, It was reported by Boardroom’s Nick DePaula, that Doncic would be releasing a new design of the Jordan Luka 3 during the playoffs.

Per DePaula, the shoe will feature a mint, purple and pink tones reminiscent of “a sports car’s dashboard at night.”

“Sometimes after games, I just drive — it helps me think clearly,” Dončić said. “So, yeah, this shoe is inspired by that. Makes me feel calm, focused … ready for whatever’s next.”

He added, “This design being inspired by cars is fun. It’s about the speed and control you need on the court, just like on the road.”

Like Michael Jordan, Doncic shares a similar passion for luxury cars.

“Luka is a pretty simple guy,” said Chad Troyer, Expert Product Line Manager at Jordan Brand. “He likes to hoop, and then his cars are where he flexes quite a bit.”

Doncic currently has a car collection that has reached 13, while Jordan’s has numerous in his collection. Something that he has been doing for decades now.
