The court, designed and constructed with the support of JD Sports, stands as a testament to Holmgren’s belief in the transformative power of sports. Speaking about the project, the seven-foot rookie emphasized the importance of equipping young players with the tools they need to succeed both on and off the court.

For Holmgren, the endeavor holds personal significance, as he fondly recalled the impact of public basketball courts on his own childhood. Reflecting on his upbringing, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to give back to the community that has embraced him.

“I feel like saying (my) city is appropriate because I feel like I’m a part of this city just as much as anybody else who’s lived here or grew up here,” Holmgren remarked. “I take pride in living here and living here the right way.”

As he embarks on his second year with the Thunder, Holmgren’s dedication to community service sets a promising precedent for his future endeavors. With aspirations of building more local courts in the years to come, he remains steadfast in his commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for aspiring athletes.

On the court, Holmgren has proven himself as a formidable force, contributing to one of the league’s most dynamic trios alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams. With the Thunder currently vying for the top seed in the league, Holmgren’s stellar performance has been instrumental to their success.

In 56 games this season, Holmgren has showcased his versatility and skill, averaging 16.9 points on an impressive 54% shooting, along with 7.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.6 blocks per game. His prowess extends beyond the paint, as evidenced by his impressive three-point shooting percentage of 39.6% on 4.3 attempts per game.

As Holmgren continues to make strides both on and off the court, his impact on the Oklahoma City community and the Thunder organization is undeniable. Through his dedication to service and his unwavering commitment to excellence, he exemplifies the values of leadership, compassion, and teamwork. As the Thunder set their sights on playoff success, Holmgren’s legacy as a champion for youth empowerment and community engagement continues to inspire fans and athletes alike.
