Stephen Curry Making His Acting Debut In Peacock’s Mr. Throwback

Stephen Curry is embarking on a new arena where he shines just as brightly, even in a completely different environment. This summer, he is introducing himself to scripted television with Peacock’s Mr. Throwback, a comedy series that will stream all six episodes starting August 8.

In “Mr. Throwback,” Curry stars alongside comedian Adam Pally, who portrays his fictional sixth-grade star teammate turned washed-up memorabilia dealer, and “Saturday Night Live” star Ego Nwodim, who plays his no-nonsense business partner. The show marks Curry’s first foray into acting, and the experience is both exhilarating and humbling.

“It’s been a ball honing my acting chops,” Curry tells USA TODAY. “Working with Adam and Ego has been incredible. They bring so much energy and talent to the set.”

Curry’s transition from NBA superstar to acting rookie has been challenging, with some rookie hazing. Curry recounts how Nwodim has kept him on his toes by maintaining his character even when the cameras are off.

“I don’t know if she’s joking or not. And she doesn’t break. So I’m walking on eggshells because they’re the vets. I’m the rookie.”

Curry is handling the playful hazing with ease and is looking forward to the chance to learn and develop in a different field. “It’s all part of the experience,” he says. “Just like in basketball, you have to earn your stripes and put in the work. Acting is no different.”

As Curry navigates his first acting season, he draws on the resilience and determination that have defined his basketball career. “Whether it’s on the court or in front of the camera, it’s about staying focused and giving it your all,” he explains.

Curry fans will undoubtedly be excited to see a different side of their hero in Mr. Throwback. The series promises plenty of laughs and heartwarming moments, with Curry showcasing his versatility and charm. Even though Stephen Curry is just starting his journey in Hollywood, it’s clear that he’s capable of taking on any challenge, whether it’s rookie hazing or learning the ropes of a new craft.

This new adventure is just another chapter in Curry’s already storied career. “I’ve always loved a good challenge,” he says. “This is just the beginning. I’m excited to see where it takes me.”

The multifaceted superstar will continue to surprise fans as he balances his basketball career with his burgeoning acting pursuits. Stephen Curry demonstrates his MVP status on and off the court, scoring three-pointers or dropping punchlines.
