Health Is Wealth: Dr. Myron Rolle Is Changing How Athletes Talk About Health

Athletes are trained to play through it. Dr. Myron Rolle built a show about what happens when they stop.

Health Is Wealth is a PlayersTV Original Series hosted by Rolle, a former NFL safety, Rhodes Scholar and neurosurgeon. Each episode sits a star athlete across from someone who knows the locker room and the operating room. The result is a conversation most athletes have never had on camera. It is about the body, the mind and the cost of greatness. It is also about what comes after.

The Host

Few people have lived both sides of this conversation. Rolle has.

He was a standout safety at Florida State. Then he made a choice that confused a lot of people in football. He postponed his NFL career to complete a Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford University. He came back, reached the league and later traded his helmet for a scalpel.

Today he is a neurosurgeon. He knows what a hit does to the brain because he has delivered them and studied them. That is the edge he brings to every interview. He can ask the medical question and understand the athlete’s answer.

The Show

Health Is Wealth made history on day one. It is the first series in television history led by an athlete-turned-doctor.

The format is simple. Rolle sits down with one guest. They talk about personal wellness, longevity, mental health and purpose. The topics range from injury recovery and mental health to generational health disparities and performance optimization. Nothing is staged. Nothing is rushed.

PlayersTV brought the series to life with Novartis as its exclusive advertising partner. PlayersTV co-founder Deron Guidrey called Rolle “an exemplary one-of-one professional” and said the show would deliver voices the country needs to hear.

The Conversations

The guest list reads like a hall of fame. The stories go deeper than the highlights.

Season one opened with WNBA icon Sheryl Swoopes and MLB great Ken Griffey Sr. Stephen A. Smith brought his voice to the chair. Jerome Bettis talked Detroit roots, Steelers culture and men’s heart health. Four-time Olympian Chaunté Lowe opened up about her cancer diagnosis and the resilience that carried her through. John Wall spoke on losing his mother, his injuries and learning to walk again.

Season two widened the lens. Pro Football Hall of Famers Terrell Davis, Andre Reed and Joe Thomas sat down with Rolle. So did Super Bowl champions Danny Amendola and Rob Ninkovich. World Series champion Hunter Pence talked about burnout and purpose beyond the game.

The season also brought in the experts. Sleep scientist Dr. Cheri Mah made the case for sleep as the most overlooked key to performance and longevity. It was a reminder that wellness is not only a locker room story. It is a science.

Why It Matters

Sports culture rewards performance. Health often comes second. Health Is Wealth argues that the two were never separate.

Rolle is using the platform to open conversations around health and longevity, especially within the athletic and Black communities. Those are communities where trust in medicine is earned slowly. Hearing it from Jerome Bettis or Sheryl Swoopes lands differently than hearing it in a waiting room.

That is the PlayersTV model at work. Athletes tell their own stories. This time the story might save a life.
