Tom Brady has been booed at rival stadiums in East Rutherford, New Jersey, but on Friday night, the American Dream mall was filled with cheers for the seven-time Super Bowl champion. A crowd wearing New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers jerseys gathered, but they weren’t there for a match.
Tom Brady’s latest venture in the booming world of sports collectibles is being celebrated by launching CardVault. This event marked the first CardVault location outside of Boston with excitement.
The store, which hobby leader Chris Costa co-founded, provides a sophisticated experience for collectors by showcasing rare and premium trading cards. CardVault is created for people of all backgrounds, from experienced collectors to curious newcomers, and offers retail and community opportunities.
“This is a great location for us,” Brady said, speaking to
FOX Business. “It’s close to our stores in Boston. We’re just gonna continue to move kind of to the west. A store a month is what Chris talks about, and we talked earlier today about where these opportunities are going to be — they’ve got a lot of things in store.”
Costa conducted a live Q&A with Brady during the grand opening, during which they discussed their favorite cards in Brady’s personal collection. Brady’s classic quarterback style ended a memorable night for fans of all ages with the launch of autographed footballs into the crowd. Brady expressed confidence in the growing and relevant state of the trading card hobby, especially in today’s digital age.
“Everything in life ebbs and flows, but I think we’re in a great time,” Brady said. “Certainly in the digital age where people can share all the things they have… people are finding like-minded individuals they can collaborate with. I think now I see these rip nights all the time — people breaking cards and breaking packs — and it’s a great part of everybody’s experience with this hobby.”
Brady’s love for sports led him to start collecting cards as a child, and now, decades later, that same passion has turned into a business venture with a national vision.
“For me it started with a love of sports,” he said. “And now here we are 40 years later, being involved with Chris and a great team of people. We want to grow it to the best possible business we can.”
Costa provided simple but essential advice for collectors who want to get started:
“Collect what you like. Always collect what you like. Don’t chase who you think is going to be worth more money. Collect your favorite players, collect your favorite teams, and the hobby will be a fun place for you.”
As the evening ended, fans soaked up their opportunity to engage with Brady – not on a football field, but in a space where sports, nostalgia, and community came together. CardVault by Tom Brady is not just a store; it’s a celebration of a hobby that has continued to unite generations, and Friday night proved it’s still in its prime.
