“Sha’Carri, you have often said your grandmother, she’s your superwoman.Dallas ISD says thank you for being all of our superwoman,” said Dallas ISD Superintendent Stephanie S. Elizalde.

Sha’Carri Richardson‘s track debut is a follow-up to her impressive performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she finished second in the 100m race and led Team USA to victory in the 4x100m relay. Richardson discussed the importance of the honor during the ceremony.

Richardson told Dallas Morning News that being honored also brings a sense of duty to Dallas and DISD. “I think people ignore where I come from, Dallas.” That is where I discover my true feelings. “That is where my attitude comes from.” The honor’s importance is increased as it is situated just a short distance from Carter High School, where Richardson first became known. She achieved success at the state level by winning eight sprinting championships, setting the stage for her future triumphs on the global stage. After excelling in high school, Richardson carried on her sports journey at Louisiana State University, achieving a notable feat in college track by setting a new NCAA record with a remarkable time of 10.75 seconds in the 100m event. Even with her athletic achievements, she has always maintained a close bond with Dallas no matter how distant she goes.

During the football game at the stadium, Richardson officially presented the Sha’Carri Richardson track sign. The signal shows her name and a plaque with a powerful statement from the athlete: “I’m doing this for people who look like me.” Richardson, with her distinctive style and strong resolve, acts as a beacon of optimism and motivation, especially for young athletes.
