Patrick Mahomes, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, recently shared a heartwarming story about his 3-year-old daughter Sterling’s developing friendship with pop superstar Taylor Swift. In the Tuesday, October 15 episode of The Drive podcast, Mahomes, 29, shared a delightful activity they enjoy: baking.
“Sterling is a big baker as well so they make some stuff together sometimes, and I’m not gonna say I don’t eat them,” When asked questions unrelated to football, Mahomes revealed. Mahomes and his wife Brittany have a 1-year-old son, Bronze, alongside Sterling and are eagerly anticipating their third child.
Taylor Swift, 34, hasn’t explicitly baked for Mahomes, but the three-time Super Bowl champion has had the luck of grabbing a few treats before they were gone.
“It is as good as everybody has talked about,” he said, adding that the baked goods he’s sampled include muffins and doughnuts. “She is great when it comes to baking.”
Swift’s cooking skills have gained her a new reputation among the Kansas City Chiefs despite being primarily known for her chart-topping music. Her friendship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, which began in the summer of 2023, has resulted in her becoming a key figure at the Chiefs’ facility. Swift has a history of baking homemade cinnamon rolls for Kelce and has also done so for other team members.
Her homemade Pop-Tarts highlighted Swift’s 2023-2024 season for the Chiefs’ offensive linemen, which head coach Andy Reid shared at the NFL Scouting Combine in February.
“Kind of behind-the-scenes … she likes to cook, so she made the offensive linemen these homemade Pop-Tarts,” Reid said. “So it was over. She knew right where to go.”
Reid said he wasn’t lucky enough to receive one of Swift’s treats.
“She didn’t give me one, and the offensive linemen definitely didn’t give me one,” he joked.
Even though there’s a lot of talk about Swift’s famous Pop-Tarts, Mahomes hasn’t tried any — not even the store-bought kind. During The Drive podcast, Mahomes revealed a surprising truth when asked about his favorite Pop-Tart flavor:
“I’ve never eaten a Pop-Tart in my entire life,” he admitted. “I think I’m going to have to change that at some point because everybody loves them.”
Mahomes praises Swift’s baking skills despite his lack of Pop-Tart experience. He is among the growing number of celebrities who have had the chance to taste her cooking. During a July appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show, Channing Tatum expressed similar sentiments.
“She’ll make you dinner and whip it up no problem,” Tatum said. “Like homemade Pop-Tarts. Warm Pop-Tarts. I’m like, ‘Did you just make these? How are these warm?’”
Kelce has praised Swift’s culinary talents.
“I thoroughly enjoy cooking with her,” Kelce told reporters in June. “Taylor makes a great Pop-Tart and cinnamon roll.”
The relationship between the Mahomes family and Swift is growing beyond their shared love for baking. Young Sterling is lucky to bond with one of the world’s most famous performers over cookies and muffins, and it’s truly a special treat. Swift is making a mark off the field, one homemade pastry at a time, as Mahomes continues to lead the Chiefs on the field.
Swift’s impact goes beyond her performances and relationships as she becomes more ingrained in the lives of the Mahomes family and the Chiefs. Swift’s presence is sweet and significant, whether making memories with Sterling in the kitchen or cheering up the offensive line with her Pop-Tarts.
