Miami Heat Unveils Iconic Dwyane Wade Statue at Kaseya Center

The Miami Heat commemorated Dwyane Wade, one of its most beloved stars, with a statue unveiling outside Kaseya Center on October 27th, which has inspired admiration and curiosity. The statue, which commemorates Wade’s iconic ‘This is my house’ gesture, immortalizes the passion and intensity Wade brought to the franchise over his storied career. A moment that both fans and Wade himself hold dear is captured in the chosen pose, which was taken during a thrilling double-overtime win over the Chicago Bulls in 2009.

Wade stated that he had the idea for the statue’s pose during an interview with Craig Melvin on TODAY.

“Yeah, it was my idea,” he said. “If you’re getting a moment like this, it has to be a moment that when someone thinks of you, it had to be a moment that represents that.”

The gesture has become symbolic of Wade’s relationship with the team and fans. It is a declaration of ownership, pride, and loyalty to Miami.

Wade’s statue’s idea is very personal, taking inspiration from other NBA legends who have statues commemorating their defining moments.

“If you go through the different statues, you look at Kobe walking off with the finger up, Shaq dunking, legs up, Jordan’s dunking pose—that’s the moment that represents him,” he explained. “And so my statue had to be a moment that when you think of me.”

Wade’s emotional milestone was the unveiling, where he expressed his gratitude for the rare honor. While reflecting on the significance, he stated, “Hall of Fame: OK, it’s a couple hundred that’s made the Hall of Fame. But when you get here, you get the statue talk, that number gets really, really low. And I don’t even know if I have the right emotions for it.”

Wade holds the game that inspired the statue in high regard. He recounted the unforgettable experience of that night:

“Feelin’ on top of the world,” Wade laughed. “And my expression, what came out my mouth, I meant everything I was saying. It was one of the best moments of my NBA career.”

During their home game against the Detroit Pistons on October 28, the Heat will continue to remember Wade’s legacy with video tributes, special activations, and a halftime address from Wade himself. For Miami fans and the city, Wade’s ‘This is my house’ moment is now preserved forever, serving as a reminder of the player who brought pride and championship success to the Heat.
