The Detroit Lions Academy provides educational and recreational resources to over 100 students from grades 6-12. According to DetriotLions.com, the Academy opened its doors for the first time in 2001. Per the Academy’s website, Detroit Lions Academy provides high-quality face-to-face education. The institution offers smaller classrooms to provide individual and small-group instruction for each student’s needs. Their district implements Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) to improve and encourage positive behaviors and academic outcomes.
Three unique programs are available at (DLA), an alternative school. One of their programs allows over-age middle school students to recover their success and reach high school. The second program is available to high school students who want to make up for missed classes, improve grades, and earn the required credits for graduation. Its third program offers a second chance to students who struggle in a traditional school setting.
All programs have a second chance to succeed in a supportive academic and social environment.
As the school year begins, Goff and Harper’s generosity ensures that hundreds of Detroit students will start with the tools and confidence needed to succeed.
