John Elway, Tim Tebow & Chick-fil-A CEO Launch Momentous Sports Investment Firm

John Elway, Tim Tebow, and Blake Bortles partner with Chick-fil-A CEO Andrew Cathy to launch Momentous Sports investment firm.

A new player is entering the booming sports investment world — and it’s packed with star power. Former NFL quarterbacks John Elway, Tim Tebow, and Blake Bortles have joined forces with Chick-fil-A CEO Andrew Cathy and Magnolia Hill Partners to launch Momentous Sports, a new investment firm targeting opportunities in sports and real estate.

According to a report by Bloomberg, Momentous Sports will focus on acquiring stakes in professional sports teams while also investing in the real estate ecosystems surrounding them — including stadiums, mixed-use developments, retail centers, housing, and public spaces.

“A lot of folks are out there investing in one or the other. We said we want to be in both,” said Marley Hughes, CEO of Magnolia Hill and founder of Momentous Sports.

The firm’s strategy combines sports ownership with large-scale property development, a trend gaining traction as the value of sports franchises continues to skyrocket. With multi-billion-dollar media rights deals and modern stadium projects reshaping local economies, Momentous aims to capitalize on the intersection of athletic entertainment and urban development.

Momentous will begin with middle-market U.S. opportunities, targeting investments in soccer, minor league baseball, and minor league hockey. Talks are reportedly underway with both the NBA and MLB regarding potential stadium developments.

Its first major project, Sporting Jax, will introduce new professional men’s and women’s soccer clubs to Jacksonville, Florida. Once the stadium is complete, Momentous plans to lead development of mixed-use real estate surrounding the venue — including shops, restaurants, and residential spaces designed to create a vibrant year-round community hub.

Andrew Cathy is contributing through his private real estate firm, Four Stones, which owns properties across the Sun Belt region. Hughes also revealed that Momentous is exploring potential investments in European soccer, where many long-established clubs control valuable but underutilized land near their stadiums — offering opportunities for redevelopment and modernization.

The collaboration brings together a potent mix of sports experience, business acumen, and development expertise. Elway, Tebow, and Bortles each bring firsthand knowledge of professional athletics and community engagement. At the same time, Cathy’s leadership of one of America’s most successful privately held companies adds a strong operational and strategic foundation.

As sports franchise values and infrastructure projects continue to rise, Momentous Sports seeks to position itself at the forefront of a new wave of integrated sports and real estate investment, merging passion with profitability.
