Jaden Hardy Gives Back to Dallas Kids During Holidays

Dallas is a city that cherishes its basketball stars, but it cherishes them even more when they leave the court and become part of the community. Precisely that is what Jaden Hardy, a Mavericks guard, did this holiday season.

Trading his sneakers for Dick’s Sporting Goods aisles and giving local kids a chance to pick out gifts that make the season feel special. Hardy did not show up for the cameras or headlines.

He showed up to celebrate. Each kid received $150 to roam the store, grab what they wanted, and maybe for the first time, feel completely in charge of their own holiday wish list.
“You know, just want to take time out of my day to give back to the community,” Hardy shared with PlayersTV. “Being with the kids, taking them on a little shop for free… just seeing the joy on their faces as they picked out the things that they wanted. It’s the season of giving back. I love doing it.”

More Than a Gesture — It’s a Tradition in the Making

Hardy doesn’t view community work as a yearly guest appearance. This is a part of his personality and upbringing.
“It’s just something I always wanted to do,” he said. “Growing up, having someone to talk to who was doing what I wanted to grow up and be — that meant a lot. My family is big on giving back. I’m big on it. It’s always good to do good deeds.”
This shopping trip won’t be a one-time event if he has his way. Hardy hopes these events will become a tradition, something young athletes and their families can depend on year after year.
Ramsey Hardy, his father, reinforced that plan.
“It’s something I instilled in him as a kid. When you give, it comes back around. We definitely going to have the foundation… that’s what it’s all about: giving back, and helping others.”
The Hardy family has already become involved with Top Achievers in Dallas and hopes to expand their involvement in the community.

Inspired by the Players Who Once Inspired Him

Hardy’s inspiration goes beyond his own journey; it dates back to Detroit gyms and NBA camps filled with legends. During his youth, he had the chance to interact with players such as Rip Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, and Rasheed Wallace. Those moments remained.
“Being around those guys as a young kid in Detroit — seeing them involved with the community — that’s something I look up to,” Hardy said. “They were in the place I wanted to be. And just hearing their words… those things stay with you.”
Now he’s in that position, offering words and actions that could shape another kid’s future.

A Holiday Tradition Worth Keeping

Hardy is well-known for his speed, shiftiness, and scoring mentality on the court. This holiday outing demonstrates another set of skills: leadership, empathy, and a willingness to invest in others.

This wasn’t about stats. It wasn’t about branding.
The goal was to ensure that a group of Dallas kids left with a smile on their face and a new person to aspire to.

Hardy was not only a deliverer of gifts in a season that was built on hope.
He reminded us that the game has a larger purpose and that its players can have a greater impact.
