Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Doubles-Down On Not Running For President

In the past Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was asked by former Daily Show” host Trevor Noah about potentially running for President of the United States. Following a 2021 political poll that revealed 46 percent of US adults support Johnson running for president.

“That was an interesting poll that happened and I was really moved by that,” Johnson shared. “I was really blown away and I was really honored. I’ll share this little bit with you: At the end of the year in 2022, I got a visit from the parties asking me if I was going to run and if I could run.”

“It was a big deal, and it came out of the blue,” Johnson continued. “It was one after the other, and they brought up that poll, and they also brought up their own deep-dive research that would prove that should I ever go down that road [I’d be a real contender]. It was all very surreal because that’s never been my goal. My goal has never been to be in politics. As a matter of fact, there’s a lot about politics that I hate.”

Seven years ago, the future WWE Hall of Famer and member of the board of directors at TKO[TKO Group Holdings, Inc], shared with Variety, that running was a “realistic consideration,” in 2024.

However, last year during an interview with “CBS Mornings,” that was now, “off the table, citing that he loves being a father.

“I love being a daddy and that’s the most important thing to me is being a daddy, number one, especially during this time, this critical time in my daughters’ lives.”

“With my 22-year-old daughter, Simone, we like to say that we grew up together,” Johnson said. “I know what it’s like to be in an occupation that took me away. As a pro wrestler full-time, I was wrestling 230 dates a year for years as she came into the world. So I know what it’s like to have that separation and not be there for the birthdays, for the pickups, the drop-offs, and everything else. And I don’t want that for my little ones now.”

On Sunday morning during the press conference for UFL, K104’s Ron Murray asked the movie star if is there a still a possibility of running or a career in politics.

Immediately Johnson said, “No.”

Then he elaborated on that statement, “I think about every time someone brings it up and I appreciate it, the support, and this idea that they’re few out there who would vote for me. And I appreciate that.  Right now the most important thing for me is being a father to my little ones and my three daughters. One who is grown up, more grown up than I am, and my two little ones at home. That’s the most important.”

He added, “Whoever wines up in office, the White House at the end of this year and 2028,  I look forward to the recalibrating of our country, and I look forward to our country coming back together. I look forward to our country having the anchoring integrity, and for people who have different opinions, and everything being okay. Having open conversations about, hey I feel this way tell me about, I feel this way it’s great. Not it’s this way or no way, which creates this divide. Which really bugs me and I won’t go down too far.”

Outside of his duties as the owner of the UFL along with his business partner, Dany Garcia, Johnson is preparing for a tag team match at WrestleMania 40. The tag team match will feature The Rock and the Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. World Heavy Champion Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes on April 6th.
