Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson and running back Jonathan Taylor took a break from the gridiron to try something new: working behind the counter at Dairy Queen. The duo promoted the fast-food chain’s new ‘Sauced and Tossed’ chicken strips at a Dairy Queen location in Westfield on Tuesday, October 15.
The two NFL stars put on an entertaining show for the fans in attendance, which was a treat. Taylor, well-known for his speed on the field, threw chicken strips over to Richardson, who expertly seasoned them in front of a cheering crowd. The Colts players gave out batches of the new chicken strips in honey BBQ and garlic parmesan flavors.
Richardson shared with excited fans that he prefers the parmesan garlic flavor, while Taylor expressed his love for the honey BBQ option. Richardson mentioned his association with Dairy Queen as well:
“We’re here at DQ today to not only interact with the community, but also show and promote the new DQ product, the ‘Sauced and Tossed’ chicken strip basket. For me, I know after a big game, this is a place I love to come and celebrate not only with just myself, but my family and friends, so shoutout to DQ.”
Taylor made the event more enjoyable by stating, “Good sauce is going on DQ. Shoutout to them for allowing us to come collab with this and have a great time and interact with the supporters and the fans out here.”
While the event was successful, both Richardson and Taylor missed the Colts’ game just one hour before kickoff at Nissan Stadium. Richardson was designated inactive, and Taylor was out for the second straight game. Despite being absent on the field, the Colts are still holding steady at 3-3 this season and plan to play the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, October 20.
The players’ unexpected shift at Dairy Queen showed their commitment to community engagement. As they continue to recover, they prove that even off the field. They are adept at delivering, whether it’s touchdown passes or perfectly sauced chicken strips.
