Angel Reese Fulfills Lifelong Dream by Paying Off Her Mother’s Mortgage

Angel Reese, a WNBA star, is also making dreams come true for her family. On her Unapologetically Angel podcast, the Chicago Sky forward unexpectedly gave her mother, Angel Webb Reese, a life-changing gift: paying off her mortgage. During a birthday celebration for ‘Mama Angel’, the 22-year-old revealed an emotional moment by dropping a surprise that left her mother speechless.

“You said that if your mortgage was paid off that you will retire, or you won’t work, or you can pick if you want to work still,” Angel shared on the January 30 episode. “So your mortgage, today, has been paid.”

Mama Angel, 54, was overcome with emotion and almost tripped over her cake, thinking she had already received her gift – a Four Seasons gift card.

“When you gave me the Four Seasons [gift] card, I thought that was my birthday gift,” she told her daughter. Angel playfully responded, “Now you know I come harder than that.”

For Angel, this moment was deeply personal. “That was my biggest goal in life,” she said. “To retire you and pay your mortgage or whatever you wanted for you not to work. But you’re a hardworking woman, you don’t need me for no money. And I love that about you.”

Angel acknowledged that her mother may not be ready to leave work yet, even with the grand gesture.

“If you wanna still work and keep yourself busy, you can keep yourself busy,” she added. “And when I move to Chicago—I’m getting a house, y’all—you can come stay with me whenever you want to.”

Angel has frequently talked about the strong bond she has with her mother. Beyond influencing her basketball career, Mama Angel also played a pivotal role in shaping her daughter’s love for fashion.

“I was always in my mom’s closet, putting on her stuff,” Angel told Vogue in a recent interview. “I liked to carry a purse. Hair done. I wanted to look put together. I still do.”
